Debney Meadows primary school is a small, inner city school located on the edge of Debney Park and close to the Flemington office of housing estate. The school reflects a uniquely diverse community of families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, many of low socio-economic status. Many students experience significant learning challenges. Many parents are learning English as an additional language and have had little or no formal education in their first language. Most students have had limited language experiences. There is high mobility in and out of the area with more than 15% of students residing in Australia for less than 2 years.
