Mataranka School is situated 106 km southeast of Katherine in the township of Mataranka. The population of the township is approximately 200. As Mataranka is situated on the Stuart Highway it is accessible all year round. The school serves a community made up of pastoral, tourism, mining, government and supporting service industries. Mataranka School is part of the Katherine Group School. A major focus is also the development of numeracy skills using the Count Me in Too program.
