Darling Downs Christian School (DDCS) is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational school emphasising the development of the whole person. Originally commenced in 1942, the school relocated in 2002 onto 13.8 hectares enabling further expansion of the learning program including extensive sports fields and a well-appointed hands-on agricultural science program. Current enrolment is approximately 220 students with plans for future growth. Current emphases' include literacy and numeracy learning support; English as a second language; outdoor education; visiting music teachers; interschool sport teams; creative arts, as well as school-based traineeships and apprenticeships. As part of the Literacy and Numeracy National Partnership, DDCS is committed to high literacy and numeracy achievement through targeted curriculum design and ongoing teacher professional development. DDCS is founded on a Christian world view promoting a redemptive relationship between each student and Jesus Christ. Through its pastoral care program, DDCS seeks to develop in students respect and concern for others, responsibility for their own behaviour, critical and effective thinking and problem-solving skills, life skills related to healthy lifestyles, within an environment that nurtures student self-esteem and self-confidence.
