Grow Cook & Connect in Playford
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation invited educators and like-minded community groups to ‘Grow Cook & Connect’ in Playford, South Australia on 8 June this year. This free event, hosted by the Foundation, was a hands-on, fun and delicious showcase of our pleasurable food education philosophy held at John Hartley School – a recipient of a Kitchen Garden Kickstart Grant in 2021.
Guests witnessed the magic of the Kitchen Garden Program in action as they observed students participating in kitchen and garden sessions, heard from our Founder Stephanie Alexander AO herself and experienced our motto 'Grow, Harvest, Prepare, Share' through wood-fired seasonal pizza and other activities.
Attendees also had the opportunity to have their say about what we might do to better enable children and young people to develop positive food, health, wellbeing, and sustainability habits for life in areas of high need across South Australia.
The event is part of a project currently being delivered by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, in partnership with Wellbeing SA.
