Kitchen garden schools and early learning centres are an impressive bunch. But don’t take our word for it – check out the bumper crop of awards recently received by schools in the kitchen garden community.

EduGrow Awards

The EduGrow School & Community Garden Awards celebrate schools that have created engaging food gardens and outdoor learning spaces. This year, the following kitchen garden schools were recognised:

  • Warruwi School came second in the ‘Healthy Soil for Healthy Food and People’ category
  • Wananami Remote Community School and St Joseph’s Catholic School came first and third respectively in the ‘Planning and Making Special Places’ category
  • Mt Molloy State School and Warruwi School who were highly commended in the ‘Planning and Making Special Places’ category.

And while we’re talking about Wananami Remote Community School, check out this amazing music video made with Indigenous Hip Hop Projects and Anglicare WA.

National Tree Day

PlanetArk asked for tree-mendous nature-inspired craft ideas to celebrate National Tree Day this year and three Kitchen Garden Program Schools submitted winning entries. Congratulations to Winters Flat Primary School, Plunkett Street Public School and Telerah Public School!
