Paul Bangay's Birthday Message for Stephanie

I remember vividly, nearly twenty years ago, when I returned to my office one day and my P.A. Robyn brimming with excitement told me the guru, the absolute guru of cooking has contacted us and wanted me to help her with her garden. Now I was used to working with celebrities but this was one with soul and who believed in the good and power of gardens and how they can heal, teach and nurture human beings. Not being a cook and not knowing the absolute star power of this one I casually sauntered into the garden and helped her in the littlest way necessary as she really had her garden looking pretty decent.

We went on to become the best of friends and I had the honour of helping her with the SAKGF as well as sitting on the Board for almost ten years. Over this time we laughed, we signed thousands of books together at wet cold open days, we stressed over budgets and rejoiced at all the good the Foundation achieved. I am honoured to still call her my friend and marvel at all the good she has done and is yet to come.
