800 Kitchen Garden Program Schools!

Thursday, March 12, 2015

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation is incredibly proud and grateful to officially announce that there are now 800 schools delivering the Kitchen Garden National Program!

This means 10% of all Australian schools with a primary curriculum are running this successful, proven, Australian-made pleasurable food education program.

The 10% target was established in partnership with the Australian Government and our Principal Partner, Medibank Community Fund, and is with great pride that we were able to achieve our goal prior to the completion of the project.

Of course it is only with the vision and commitment of schools across the country that this important community goal could be reached – a huge thank you to each and every truly incredible Kitchen Garden Program School, each one is helping to grow the seeds of a new generation of learning across Australia.

These schools represent a huge and diverse range of Australian communities – from small to large; urban, rural and remote; government and non-government, and varying socioeconomic backgrounds – but all are united in their commitment to delivering hands-on food education that is educational, inspirational, accessible and, above all, fun!

This monumental achievement signals the end of the current Australian Government project. While the Foundation team will continue to support, learn from and work with this unique group of schools, our vision remains to bring pleasurable food education to all Australian schools.

To this end we’re opening up the toolkit and are proud to announce a new Membership service accessible to any Early Learning Centre, Primary School and Secondary School. Get all the details and get involved.
